Amanda`s Restaurant in Hunter River

This was our second visit to this restaurant and on both occasions our meals were absolutely delicious!! Be sure to arrive early because it is normally over an hour wait to get a table. Unfortunate for us this time we were the last table seated and felt we were rushed through our meal despite being told they would be there for a while cleaning up and to take our time. Took away from our experience but the amazing food will bring us back again. We are also looking forward with great anticipation to the dining at their new restaurant in Charlottetown!!!

A must-go when on the island. Amazing chef truly makes this place a hidden gem. The staff is courteous, but slightly over-worked on busy days and could stand to be a tad more attentive (just so you don’t have to ask for more water etc) but the food is amazing. Pastry made in-house and the seafood poutine is absolutely amazing. Definitely check this place out if you can - I can promise you that you won’t be unhappy!

Absolutely loved it. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. We felt like old friends stopping by for a meal. The food arrived pretty quickly and was piping hot. The flavours and the textures were extremely well done and we definitely will be going back. Special thanks to our server, Carla! She was awesome.

Their food is great and the service is very good. The restaurant is quite crowded and you have to book in advance if you want to sit inside the restaurant. If you don't have any reservation, you can sit in the dining area outside the restaurant to enjoy the scenery.

Really awesome experience! Food was delicious, service was friendly, and atmosphere was lovely. We sat outside bc we brought our small dog on vacation with us and we really appreciated that they had a place we could enjoy dinner but have Finn with us. We will definitely come back again they next time we're in PEI!

Love it! Never make a trip back home without coming to the Blue Mussel. The food is absolutely spectacular and very fresh. Portions are very generous and my brother had halibut that had only been caught a few hours before. He said it was the best he had ever had , and he has grown up on the East Coast , so that's saying something!

We had an exceptional experience at Blue Mussel this week. Have always heard great things about the place, but our expectations were exceeded in every way when we finally made the trip north. We were lucky to walk in without a reso and got a two-seater outside (which I know is not always the norm). The service was A1, right from the hostesses to our server (Terry -- hard to pull off all-business service AND quick-witted humor... he nailed it). The food was well-presented, fresh, creative, and tasted amazing. The house-made blueberry pie was delish -- even my fiance's mixed cocktail was well above average in terms of creativity and flavour. Can't say enough good things -- we'll be back sooner than later!

Very good. Always worth the trip no matter where you are staying on the island. Haven't had a bad meal here. Mussels are obviously good. We have a slight preference for the classic over the beer and lime. We also enjoyed the haddock sandwich and smoked salmon sandwich. Chowder is rich and creamy and packed with mixed seafood. The accompanying biscuit is a standout too.

Amazingly friendly staff. There was a long wait time (about 1 hour) but we went for a walk while waiting and returned to the restaurant when we got a text notification and the food was definitely worth the wait. The biscuit was TO DIE FOR and the homemade maple butter was an amazing pleasant surprise. Cute decor, though quite a bit darker than preferable.

Went on a family vacation out east. We went to the BMC multiple times during the trip. Would highly recommend. - great food- great view- great staff

Great atmosphere. Truly seaside. The menu offers a great variety of really flavourful dishes. Not too expensive.

The food was very good here. Location was great. Service was excellent. They handle the large influx of customers very efficiently by using an app to text you when you’re getting close to having a table. Large parties may have a longer wait since most of the tables are geared to 4 or less, but they will accommodate you. Food was very fresh and expertly prepared. We had the Seafood Chowder as and appetizer. It was delicious and creamy. I had the Seafood Bubbly which was delicious and cheesy. My spouse had the sautéed scallops which were also excellent. We had a tad more room so we split a Chocolate Potato Cake. Tasty, not overwhelmingly chocolate, big piece.I would recommend this place highly. Expensive, but worth it.

Wonderful experience at Blue Mussel Cafe. Polite and courteous staff were carefully implementing Covid-19 safety procedures. Excellent meals! The haddock, scallop and chowder dishes were amazing in every bite.

Go early! This place gets pretty busy! Love the atmosphere here and the food was delicious. Potato chocolate cake is a must have. The mussels are also amazing!

Exquisite. A must place to eat. They do not take reservations. There is always a line and when you eat there you WILL know why. Cozy atmosphere inside and out. Outstanding seafood AND desserts.

Went during COVID and it was absolutely brilliant how they had the place set up. I didn’t feel forced together at all. The food is great, and you get lots of it. Service is also great. If you can get a reservation because it looked like it was hard to get in without one.

Arriving late on the last day of the season, our hotel desk recommended we go to Blue Mussel Cafe for dinner as most options had already closed for the season. Several menu items were unavailable as they used up ingredients and the wait was a little long, but we weren't in a hurry. We got the lobster dip as a starter and it was perfectly delicious. My son and I got the seafood bubbly bake which was a little unusual for me, but it was great! My wife got the scallop linguine and said it was also well-made. A bit noisy and crowded, but all around great meal with pretty good service. We had our two kids with us and it wasn't great for our younger daughter, but they didn't seem to target her demographic. :)

Amazing food. Server Kristen was attentive and knew the menu. Went with my 80+ year old parents. Bree at the door ensured we had chairs not benches to sit in. Will seat once whole party is assembled. I like that, it seemed more organized. So hard to get @ because the food is so good. Radler was very tasty too. Everything was fresh and carefully prepared. Gluten free dessert was best ever - moist chocolate roll with lemon filling. With that menu, you can't go wrong.

Best meal we have had on PEI. The mussels were delicious. I had the salmon & my husband had the haddock; both done to perfection. Nothing fried here. FABULOUS! We sat upstairs outside in a small area with nice views of the water! Don't miss this place!

I wish I lived in PEI. I would be here daily. Food is the best sea food I've ever tasted. Very interesting dishes. Staff excellent.

Chef Jamie is a genius. Long wait to get in but they text you when your table is ready so you can go shopping and enjoy the beautiful view while you wait. They don't take reservations so just show up. The food is amazing. A definate must!

Excellent food and service. Make the detour and try this restaurant. We had the tuna tar tar and lobster roll. Both delicious. Folks around us were having other meals and everyone seemed like they were enjoying their food.

They might have decent food but this place lacks everything else. We put our name in at 5:30pm and weren’t seated until 6:15 which would have been fine except when we started to order, the server informed us that they don’t serve the kids menu for dinner. That would have been very helpful to tell a family before waiting so long. We then waited another 60 minutes for our food. If you want somewhere that’s family friendly choose somewhere else!

Great meal here, fun wait staff when we visited. Was busy but the wait was accurately predicted by the staff and they had a 'text' service so you could roam around the local area a bit while you waited. This was a nice touch. Ironically the only dish our table had that was not well received was the Mussels. But this is purely a preference as we tend to like mussels that are prepared in some kind of wine sauce and these were basically steamed. Will certainly return !!

Definitely a must go to restaurant when in PEI. My girlfriend and I were recommended to go here. Best halibut we have ever tasted. (When available) We couldn’t decide between the classic mussels or the beer & lime mussels. Our waitress recommended the beer & like and Steve the owner said the classic. Both amazing but (Always listen to Steve!) loved the view, staff, and food. We could not speak an ill word about this restaurant. We will definitely be back!

You cannot go wrong with anything you order here. Great service. A popular spot that doesn't take reservations. If there's a cruise ship in expect a wait to be seated for lunch. If it's raining expect the same for dinner.

One of my two favorite restaurants on PEI, Blue Mussel Cafe is fantastic. I've been several times and everything I've eaten there has been delicious? Highly recommend the local oysters, mussels in the traditional broth and the Bubbly Bake! I also had the special of the day, blue fin tuna. It was the BEST I've ever had!!!Be sure to have drinks at the bar as well. Refreshing cocktails and the Caesar with an oyster on the half shell is amazing! I love eating on the deck, off of the bar, at the high top tables for some sun and the view of the bay!The wait time will be awful but so worth it. They will text you so you can explore the area while you wait.

Fabulous food, friendly staff, fun atmosphere. Innovative recipes that were wonderful! Highly recommend the Smoked Charcuterie Board and Seafood Bubbly Bake. I wish I lived closer - I'd bring everyone here.

Food fabulous. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating. Sat at bar. Melvin the bartender was so nice and friendly. Loved the decor. Simple and quaint.

Amazing food and amazing staff! The view was lovely out over a green area. The drinks were very good and the food was fresh and prepared so well! Great to get there early before the rush!

The inside of this place is very well designed and rustic looking! Located right on the water which is another plus for the view and food ties everything together. Great place to eat would Recommend!

Although we had to wait a bit for a table the wait staff were absolutely WONDERFUL. Kind, courteous, attentive and were always with chatting and gave great reccomendations. I would absolutely suggest this place to anyone, especially those coming to the Maritimes or PEI for the first time to experience truly delicious seafood :)

We visited Blue Mussel Cafe in early June and it was a great experience. The decor is very quaint and has a rustic feel. We didn't have to wait to be seated when we showed up around 6 pm and we had our drinks brought out to us within 10 minutes of being seated. The food is a little on the pricey side, but it was delicious. I ordered the lobster and prices vary according to market value at the time. Our server was very friendly and took a little time to ask us where we were from. There is outdoor seating but it wasn't set up yet, I assume because it's still early in the season. Lots of parking. It was a little warm and stuffy inside, however I noticed ceiling fans and windows which appear to open so the summer should cool off easier. All in all great experience for local cuisine.

Had an absolutely fantastic experience at this place! Do yourself a favor and order the haddock burger, best I’ve ever had. I don’t even think you need to love seafood to really enjoy the dishes this place is putting out, that’s how fresh and delicious the food is! We were visiting from Minnesota and would definitely go back. What a great place to enjoy a meal while on vacation!

From the insanely friendly waitress to the delicious food and drinks, we were very impressed with Blue Mussel Cafe. Our wait ended up being 20 minutes longer than their app said because the place was insanely busy, but there is a lot of beautiful scenery all around to pass the time. We ordered the seafood bubbly, the salmon, the chowder poutine. All were delicious and service was fast once we were seated. Couldn't have asked for more

Food and service was great! Location is beautiful! In addition my daughter has a lot of food allergies and they were awesome about the awareness of cross contamination. Although she ended up not being able to order anything the server went above and beyond looking into possible solutions and she was able to eat food I brought for her at the table. The manager was very friendly and knowledge about the risks as well.

The best seafood restaurant in PEI.

Hands down the best restaurant we tried in PEI!The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful, right on the water with windows everywhere so you felt like you were outside. The waiters were fast, attentive and friendly and the kitchen was quick as well. Most importantly the food was delicious, everything we had there was spot on and priced very reasonably. You can tell the owner of this restaurant has taken a lot of thought and care into every aspect of this restaurant. They even have some Blue Mussel Care shirt and mug merchandise which is very cute. A must try if you are in the area.
